The Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow was the only lip product released in Fenty Beauty’s initial launch. It was also the only product I was interested in because I’ve really been into lip products lately and its initial reviews were quite positive. I’ve never been much of a gloss gal (thanks to the memories of the glosses of my youth), but I like the Gloss Bomb. In this post, I’ll talk about the texture, wear, colour, scent, packaging, and my overall thoughts.
The Gloss Bomb is sticky enough that you should probably wear your hair up if it’s windy, but it’s not the gross kind of sticky that you can feel on your lips. It doesn’t feel gummy or weird after hours of wear. As I mentioned in my mini-review on Instagram, more gloss will stick to your lips than your coffee mug.
As you’d expect from a gloss, the Gloss Bomb needs frequent touching up depending on how much you talk or drink. Luckily, it’s one of those products that you can apply without looking into a mirror. It fades away naturally and it never looks gunky or gross unless you layer it with certain lip products.
Fenty Glow is supposed to be a “universal nude rose,” although I’ve heard it described several different ways. I’m always skeptical of anything that claims to be universal, but I think that this is sheer enough that anyone could wear it. The colour looks very natural on me – it’s a my lips but better/glossier kind of shade. If you’re looking for something dramatic, look elsewhere.
I usually forget to mention scent in my reviews, but this gloss has a very strong scent. I wouldn’t wear this in an enclosed space with anyone who is sensitive to scents, but it’s probably fine for scent-free workplaces as the scent does dissipate. The gloss has a peachy vanilla scent that smells exactly like this ice cream tastes.
As much as I like pentagonal prisms, this gloss is too bulky for my taste. It doesn’t fit into my lipstick holder and it takes up a lot of room in my lipstick drawer. It’s not a product that I would want to travel with and it takes up valuable space in my mini makeup bag, so I usually don’t bring this out with me. The doe-foot applicator is massive compared to most, which is good for quick application.
Is it a gloss for people who don’t like glosses? No. If you hate traditional glosses, you’re not going to like this. If you want to give glosses another shot, I’d recommend trying this out. If you love glosses, you’ll probably like this one.
Would this be as popular if it wasn’t for all of the hype? No, but it’s still a good product. Will I repurchase this? I’ll let you know when I finish the gloss (or it becomes too gross to continue using). I don’t think that I’ll purchase any glosses from Fenty Beauty’s holiday Galaxy Collection because I’m still Team Bullet Lipsticks.
Overall, I’m happy with this purchase. It’s easy to throw on for quick makeup looks and it’s pretty.
What do you think of this gloss? Are you interested in picking up anything from Fenty?
