Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk | Review and Swatches

I’ve heard primarily positive reviews about the Glossier Cloud Paints (bff link) since they were first released, so I knew that I would pick one up if and when I made my first order. They’re $22 CAD / $18 USD, which is a little pricey for 10 ml / 0.33 fl oz. I can imagine finishing one of these in 3-4 months of daily use because it’s hard to control how much blush you squeeze out.

I choose the shade Dusk because I love warm brownish/nude shades like MAC Warm Soul and Chanel Élégance. Unfortunately, it isn’t quite right for my skin tone. It. looks like I applied foundation that’s too pink/cool/dark on my cheeks. It doesn’t look terrible and I’m sure that no one notices as much as I do, but I’m not a fan of this shade. I hope that Glossier expands the shade range because it’s not very inclusive right now.

I included Deep Throat (a peachy pink) so you can see just how brown these shades are.

The blush is easy to apply. I tapped some onto my cheeks using my fingers and then dabbed to blend it out. It also builds nicely if you want a stronger flush. It didn’t look patchy or even, nor did it cling to dry patches. It has a nice texture; it’s somewhere between a liquid and a cream.

My main issue with this blush is the longevity. It lasts anywhere from two to five hours on me depending on the application method. You may have better luck if your skin is less oily than mine. Five hours just isn’t long enough for me, unless I’m putting my makeup on for a quick dinner out or something. For this reason, I will not purchase any other shades in the future (even though I still want to for reason –  Glossier, why do you do this to me?). For reference, the Marc Jacobs Air Blushes last 18 hours on me, Nars blushes last 14-16 hours, and Clinique Cheek Pops last 12-15 hours.

Check out my first impressions on Boy Brow and the Gen G lipstick in Zip. I’ll be posting about the rest of my Glossier products soon.

Thanks for reading! What’s your favourite liquid or cream blush?

Here’s my “bff” link to save 10% off your first order. If you shop throught my link, Glossier will give me five Canadian dollars and I’ll probably buy Wowder.
