It happened. Despite my aversion to pink, the we’re-not-like-other-makeup-brands marketing, and the constant pleads from strangers to use their referral link, I made my first Glossier* order.
I’ve been using these Glossier products regularly for the past week and a half. It’s a little early to review any of these products, but I figured I would share some comparison swatches of Boy Brow in Blond because I couldn’t find any while researching for this purchase. I’ll also share my first impressions of the product.
My hair colour has gone from nearly white-blonde as a baby to dark-blonde as a teenager to omg-is-this-blonde-or-brown as twenty-four year old. I’ve tried quite a few brow products over the years, and a lot of them have been too dark or too warm for me. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Taupe is my perfect shade. There are so few reviews of Glossier Boy Brow in Blond, and even fewer with pictures, so I was very nervous about this purchase.
Luckily, it works as long as I don’t overdo it. The colour is a bit darker and warmer than I anticipated. I’ve swatched some other products in the image below.
Here are the same swatches in different lighting. I hope this is helpful!
Boy Brow is Glossier’s best seller, and I can definitely see why. It adds definition and a nice “fluff” to the brows while looking natural. It doesn’t clump your brow hairs together nor does it make them look crusty (looking at you, ABH Brow Gel). It feels a little waxy. I didn’t have any issues with the product disappearing or smudging. It’s easy to remove at the end of the day.
Despite what you may hear on social media, the product is not fool-proof. I’ve accidentally added too much product (even after wiping the excess off the brush!) on several occasions, and it was baaad. However, my hand-eye coordination is seriously lacking, so you may not have this problem. Nevertheless, be careful.
I like it. I prefer to use Brow Wiz because I’m a little self-conscious of my brow shape. However, I have no problem using Boy Brow on its own. I think it’s a nice product and worth checking out if you’re into that kind of thing. I never use clear brow gel (setting spray is enough for me), so I probably won’t purchase the Boy Brow in clear. I’m glad that I purchased this, but it hasn’t changed my life. I’ll update this post to let you know if anything changes.
One more thing to note: the size. Most Boy Brow users that I’ve talked to report finishing each Boy Brow in about two months, though it varies quite a bit. I’ll let you know when I finish this tube!
Thanks for reading! Let me know your thoughts on Boy Brow and Glossier as a brand.
*referral link, obvs. If you shop through my link, you can save 10% off your first order and give me five Canadian dollars so I can buy Wowder and find something stupid to complain about.
