NARS x Sarah Moon – True Story Palette

The NARS x Sarah collaboration is so beautiful, and I’m happy to have the True Story cheek and lip palette. It contains four powder blushes and a velvet matte lip pencil. It is a very aesthetically pleasing collection.

Devotee (repromote) is a slightly frosty, pale white highlighter with a hint of pink. I was worried that it would emphasize my skin texture, but it was surprisingly flattering when blended out. Highlighters aren’t really my thing (gasp), but I can see myself wearing this or blending it with one of the matte blushes.

Myth (LE) is a matte, pale pink. It’s a very light shade, but the pigmentation can be built up.

Unwritten (LE) is a matte, warm pink. It was probably the best fit in this palette for my skintone (NC20).

Outlaw (permanent) is a cool, deep berry with a warm, golden shimmer. It’s my favourite shade in this palette.

Mysterious Red (permanent) is a beautiful red. It’s very rich and deep in colour, slightly warm, not too bright, opaque, and matte. It gives off a bit of a glam vibe, so I personally wouldn’t wear this with a bare face. I own very few red lipsticks (I think that they are all GWPs, except NARS Jungle Red), and I tend to dislike wearing red lipstick. However, this deep red is very flattering and I can see myself actually wearing this on special occasions.

Overall, I’m really happy with this cheek and lip palette, and I’ll definitely get use of all five shades. I was already a huge fan of the NARS blush formula (it’s definitely one of my favourites) and I’ve enjoyed the few velvet matter lip pencils that I’ve tried. The formula was consistent with the typical NARS formula: great texture, a little on the powdery side, good colour payoff, easy to blend, comfortable to wear, etc.

As is typical with NARS, the packaging is gorgeous. What were your favourite items from the Sarah Moon collection?
